What do you think about this product. I'm curious as to whether this would be very effective. I only run my truck about once a week during the winter and usually have time to let something like this work for a bit.

If you already have a block heater in your truck I wouldn't bother. Either plug the block heater in all the time or plug it in 3 hours before you plan to use your truck. Either way with properly functioning glow plugs you shouldn't need either unless it really cold!

We have a setup close to this on our NODWELL at work but it uses fuel and 12v power to run ,it too circulates the warm coolant man its like you never shut the machine down, the block heater works just fine for start up but it still takes a bit to get some heat into it

That was part of what I was thinking, too. I can leave it running for 20 minutes and still have lukewarm air coming out of the heater when it's cold out, but with this thing I would bet that it would be blowing warm right away. Not only that, I think it would eliminate having to keep it plugged in all the time or shorten that 3 hours.

If you want to really warm your truck I wouldn't let it sit at all. Letting it sit and breath that cold air isn't helping anything. You need to get it moving and work it a little. I have found that this works better and saves a little time and diesel. If you do end up putting it in tell us how it works. I would like warm air right off that bat too.

Three things. You will never warm the truck up by just starting it and letting it run. It will warm up after a few miles.

I am not sure, but I think this heater is the same capacity as the stock heater 1500w. If not the stock heater is close to that.

I would be concerned with inducing additional metals into the cooling system also.

If you need the heater use the stock one, it is already there and will be much better than a $40 add on.

This unit will circulate and warm up all the coolant not just the coolant in the block, this is what the normal block heater does, If you want to spoil yourself and your truck I would get it $40 is cheep merry christmas

actually if I remember correctly the stock heater is only 800 watts. plus it is only designed to keep the block and block only from getting really cold, not to keep the whole system warm. the stock (freeze plug heater) stays on the whole time it is plugged in, tank heaters like this one and many others actually have a thermostat in them and dont have to stay on the whole time. also I have had both on my tractors and the tank heaters heat up the system a lot faster.

Franklin
p.s. I didnt really pay attention on this one but usually the tank heaters will tell you that they are designed for a system with like less than 12 quarts, 12 to 25, and so on, make sure that you get the right size it will make a big difference. our systems hold like 27 quarts.
