I have the telescoping, heated mirrors and have not seen the heat function since owning the truck. All fuses are good and the mirrors themselves are in great shape. What initiates the heat in these things and how would I go about finding my problem?
as far as i know they are on all the time. no on/off switch. you can take your door panel off and check if you get 12v on the mirror , and if you have 99 are you sure that yours are heated? do you have that little print on the mirror that will tell you that they are heated?.
if you take the door panel off, the plug to the mirror should have more than 3 wires, if you have only 3 they are non heated.
maybe somone will give you more info, somone who has those mirrors,
i upgraded mine to signal/heat/power mirrors from 2005 trucks, and had to run line for heat and on/off switch.
I think they come on when the defroster is on at least that is how the wifes van works. I didn't think they came with heated mirrors till 2000 or later I could be wrong some one may have add the mirrors and never hooked them up.
I bought aftermarket heated mirrors that are identical to stock tow mirrors to change out the original sport mirrors and do not yet have the heat function working yet due to a lack of me running a wire. This is probably the same reason yours do not work.
My heated mirrors also don't seem to work. I have the wavy symbol on the mirrors so it should have them. They aren't power telescoping though...Is that a combination the X came with??
Btw, is there a sticky for a fuse panel diagram on here?
When Ford put them in, they powered the heat for the mirrors from the power window circuit. If they are stock, there is no switch, they are on when the truck is on. At least that is what the owners manual on my '03 says.
My buddies 05 has the heated mirrors, and they are always on too. Hence his complaints that his mirrors always have water spots and baked on dirt. But I guesss if that is all he has to complain about while driving a 6.0, then he is probably pretty lucky
03 is when they came out with the heated option so somebody might have swapped in the newer ones but didnt wire them up.I have mine wired to be on all the time just like the factory.
I really my heated mirrows in Flagstaff this week and they didnt work! I checked the relay but i cant tell if its good or not, the heated mirror button on the dash lights up. I could use them on the trip home!
