Here is what I did. Not pretty, but worked out. Haven't cut my dash yet, but that's next. I'm not looking forward to cutting my dash, but It needs to be done. I mounted a car AM/FM radio (which I made a post of), but didn't like the way the **** shafts worked out, so I decided to go this route to see what happens. Why not right?
so you can put a cd player in without fab-ing new metal mounting bracket? Does anyone know of where you can find a metal mountin braket for the radio/ac? or is that only going to be found in a junk truck? My daddy wont let me do any permanant damage to my truck so ill need a different mounting bracket for cuttin.
I ended up doing something like bucks did after having a so called professional shop install mine(looked like he chewed my dash apart with his teeth or something, jagged edges everywhere!) But for the outside cover I had a radio plate I had bought for my 80 kenworth, it was aluminum with a wood grain covering , and I simply cut it to fit the weird shape around the radio and it turned out fairly well for me, I'll try attaching a pic so you can see what I mean. not sure that worked but the plate was only around 20 bucks back then then I used the little tangs on the stereo cage to hold the trim and the dash to the frame I had built
