First I would like to say hello to everyone. This site is the greatest!!
I have been having problems with my manual locking ford hubs. I have heard that they suck and that warn is the way to go, but I am confused about which one to pick. Is it worth spending the extra bucks to go with the premium, or are the standard hubs just fine?
I replaced the auto hubs in my 97F250 with the standard hubs. Seems the Warn website at the time said premium hubs were for extreme off roading. Mine have been in several years now with no problems.
I've had good service out of the standard hubs. The only difference I know is the premium hubs have more metal in them while the standard have more plastic pieces.
The Warn Standards are the same exact hub as your existing Ford ones, just with a black dial... The premiums ara built a good bit heavier, but, not necessary at all for normal 4x4 use.
I'd shell out the extra dough for the premiums. If your offroading and you get sucked into a rut and a big root off an oak jubs right into your hub it might break the plastic cap. Premiums are all metal parts
