This was the second year i did this, i wanted to try it again to make sure that this was really my solution to the romp syndrome.
I use 15W40 rotella in the summer and as soon as it starts getting cold out my truck romps hard even stalling. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 attempts to even get it running. So last year i changed the oil to 10W30 rotella and it solved my problem (romps all gone). This year i did the same thing and as soon as i change the oil to the lighter weight the romps dissapear.
I realize this might not be the solution for all the cases just thought it might be some help to some of u out there
Welcome to FTE I use to get the rump's too!! I run 15-40w all year, thought about switching to a lower W oil but never did.. I had to replace my batt's not to long ago, cause they were getting weak had them 6 years. I also replaced the GPR, no more romp!! this winter so far !!!!
for those of you like myself that live in colder climates, ford does recomend useing a lighter wieght oil in the winter, they have a little chart in one of our manuals that we get with the truck , i think it is the supplement manual. but i just use 5-40 syn.
question- i notice that delo makes a 10-30, but it is a multigrade, but it has the right rating for us, is a multi grade oil ok to use??
