No more axles...

Well the guy i have been talking to and planning to buy axles from for awhile backed out yesterday...
After much disscusion via email, and several phone calls. We agreed on a time/date to exchange the axles for $300 that worked for both of us. That meeting was this sunday (tomarow) and I was gunna get the 1979 Dana 44 and 9" + a 400 engine all for 400 bucks. Late friday night i get an email saying he sold them to someone else because he didnt want to drive to the meeting place.

What pisses me off the most is that after renegning on a verbal contract at the last minute, the guy has the audaciaty to tell me i can still get the 400 for $100 bucks if i pick it up from his house (a 5 hour drive, we were meeting in the middle previously)!

Im not terribly mad about losing the axles, cause hey thats business, its the principle of going back on your word (something that i NEVER do in business or otherwise) Am i the only person who still considers a handshake or a verbal agreement to be binding?

I still do. If I say its yours its yours. We shake and thats thats. Some people just dont get what that means anymore. Like kids not saying TRICK OR TREAT at Halloween. I wouldnt give them little kids any candy till they said it. Ha

2 years ago I had a kid say he came to the house twice, and I could be fooled by a little kid. I grabbed his bag of candy and said trick or treat. He was about 2 cry and I said dont ever come back to this house again.

There is the old jewel in the mix, but not many. About a year ago when my stator and ignition module gave up the first guy who diagnosed it couldn't find the problem (small garage). I ended up having to bring it directly to ford and he waved all fees because he couldn't find the exact problem.

About 6 years ago my father and i took it upon ourselves to lay out the scariest scene we could. We went all out, including digging up the front yard full of "graves" complete with life sized plastic skeletons we modified with glowing red LED eyes and a beating heart (Large red xmas bulb on a flasher). All this accented by the fact that our house is down a dirt road in the woods with "No Tresspasing" signs (off of which we hung nooses) All in all it had a rather chilling effect. We mingled with kids and parents on the street listening to the parents trying (and usually failing) toi convince their kids that it was ok to go ring the doorbell.
Lets just say that we had lots of candy left the next day.

After that though there arnt really any families with kids around here anymore so we stopped after a few 1/2 hearted attempts over the next few years.

So i gave the guy another chance when he had 79 axles up for sale, last night we talked and agreed that for $450 he would deliver both axles here.
This morning theres an email askin me to call him, i do and the f**ker says he sold the whole damn truck THIS MORNING!
I WOULD LOVE TO TELL THIS GUY WHERE TO SHOVE HIS BRONCOS except for the fact that he is the ONLY person i can find that routinly gets 78/79 bronco and F150 parts...NO ONE ELSE IN WESTERN WA IS SELLING THESE PARTS!!

That kinda ruined my weekend

I feel your pain brother......It really sucks when you gotta bite the bulllet and continue to be nice to someone like that. I hope you can one day find a more reliable source. I have had a similar deal go south for the same reasons...luckily I found someone else and he now gets all my business and at about half the price.

Keep the faith.....What comes around,...goes around
