It was simply the molding that ran down the middle of the truck, both sides.
I would say it is in 'fair' shape - would take some work to clean it up, rubber is faded of course.
UPDATED PICS 2/23/08 !!!
First coat of primer is on... odds and ends dents, scratches, scrapes starting to show. Time to work things out and move forward! Inside has been gutted, primed (somewhat). Pictures do not show but I did remove rust and prime the rearend, hitch and rear section of the frame, springs, etc... from the gas tank backwards.
What a difference my Father-In-Law and I have made to this point!!
I have one question - will the seat from a 1992 Ford Econoline van fit in my truck if I swap out the brackets, frame???
Enjoy the pics! I am in need of a matching set of mirrors - anyone willing to sell a set??
Final sanding done on the pick-up. Things are coming into place. Detail painting of specific parts being done. Check out the latest picture gallery! You can see pics of the new seat out of a 1996 F150!!!

It looks like you've done an excellent job on the body work and sanding! The body looks really straight, and it should look great with the new paint job. Just want to warn you, though, black is one of the hardest colors to do! It seems like every little flaw will show in a black paint job. Black is the hardest color to keep clean, too! I know this from experience(I used to own a black '78 F150).
Congrats on the progress the bodywork looks good and the body looks nice and solid straight for sure its going to look great when the paint is on nice seat too
Going to paint it black - I realize that it will be a challenge, but, we're up to it!
I also understand the pain it is to keep black clean - my daily driver is a 2006 black F250.... winter has been HELL on the cleanliness of it, lol!
3) Lower Radiator Hose - the belt cuts into the hose, and looking at the old hose we took off it did the same thing. This seems REALLLLY strange and cannot be normal, however, it seems like something that may be common. Anyone else experience this? The belt slices into the lower hose and notches out a 'V' shape...
Try twisting the hose so it moves away from the belt and then tighten the clamps.

Thank you! I worked this issue out a few weeks back. When I replaced the radiator hose I did it by replacing exactly how the hose came off the truck. Turns out - the hose was originally on the truck UPSIDE DOWN!!! lol
No rubbing, no issues - hood blanket was installed and the engine bay is sealed up ready for the exteriors paint!
