Question 46 - 48 MPH bounce

I have a 2006 F350 SRW 4X4 SC LB with 18" Alum. wheels that has a bouncing feel at 46 - 48 MPH like a wheel is out of balance. Had the wheels balanced 3 times and the bounce is still there and only at that speed. Has anyone else had this problem with their truck and found the problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Find a tire shop that is capable of doing an on-vehicle balance. This will help determine which corner/s are causing the bounce and then steer you in the right direction for a cause, such as ball joints, wheel bearings etc. Also, even thou you have had the tires balanced numerous times, check the weights used. If you have an excessive amount of weight on one tire (this can cause a low speed bounce) have them break the beads and spin the tire 180 degrees on the rim and rebalance it. Chances are good the weights needed will be less and your bounce will disappear. Good luck.

Mine does this also. There is a tsb for it:

TSB
07-5-11 VIBRATION/HOP AT 40-48 MPH (68-77 KM/H) - (8.0 HZ) - TRAILER HITCH EQUIPPED VEHICLES ONLY

Publication Date: March 1, 2007

FORD: 2005-2007 F-Super Duty

ISSUE:
Some 2005-2007 F-Super Duty vehicles with a long wheelbase of 156", 158", or 172" (396, 401, or 437 cm) and equipped with a trailer hitch may exhibit a vehicle vertical vibration, often described as "hopping", on smooth or coarse road surfaces in the 42-48 MPH (68-77 Km/h) speed range. Although this behavior is considered normal for an over 8500 GVW truck, some customers may be sensitive to the concern.

ACTION:
To improve the 42-48 MPH (68-77 Km/h) vertical vibration, follow the instruction sheet included in the Damper Service Kit.

NOTE: THE INSTALLATION OF THIS DAMPER WILL NOT IMPROVE RIDE ON SEGMENTED CONCRETE HIGHWAYS, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION/SHIMMY, OR GENERAL HARSH RIDE CONCERNS.

Try rotating the tires front to back. Make sure you tighten them back up evenly and torque the nuts to spec. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.
