Well I guess I won't be posting pics of my recent back X-rays. There's no telling how many more problems you guys might find there, and I've got enough things to worry about for now.
The 0.025" feeler gauge is correct for the exhaust valve, which is the single valve on the long rocker. The two intake valves on the short double rocker get a 0.015" gauge.
The guy leaning on my air cleaner is in charge, and he was using my truck as a guinea pig for teaching the other guy how to do a valve lash. The whole operation took 3 times longer than normal, but I learned all the details on how to do a complete "overhead" on a C7, including checking the torque on the rockers. BTW, I got along just fine with the boss, notice the duct tape on his finger!
I've got a quick disconnect fitting on the truck air system, and I finally rounded up all the items I need for airing up my tires. I had to slightly mod (as in bend) my wheel covers to get an air chuck and gauge to reach the valve stems on the rear wheels. I found one major air leak which used to dump the truck air pressure within hours of shutting off the engine, but the truck still looses most of it's air pressure overnight, so I've got more leaks somewhere. I discovered my windshield washer tank is broken, so I need to replace it, and I just finished replacing both rear shocks, and both batteries.
I still haven't done a trial towing test, and I'm afraid I might have to lower the king pin box on my 5er to make the trailer run level, and those bolts appear quite rusty and will be difficult to loosen. If my towing test indicates the C7 isn't up to the task, I can get a good deal on the C15 shown in the pic!

why do you think they're called a "CLATTER" pillar in the first place?

If it was set correctly, you should not be able to get the feeler gauge under the rocker arm. SO..., the answer is that they had the adjustment set incorrectly for the Intake....

Dave..
Oh yeah, that was my SECOND guess. I should have been drunk the first time and I would have noticed that
I'm not sure about that. If you look closely at the guy on the right, it looks like he has duct tape wrapped around the ring finger on his left hand (either that or he has his finger through a long socket that must have at least a 3/4-inch drive opening).
EDIT... it has to be duct tape because I can see the raised section of the ring he covered up with the tape.
