What kind of mpg can I expect from a 91 f-250 with a slightly moded (headers, 2.5in. exhaust with flowtech warlock mufflers and a mild cam) 351w efi? Also, how are the E4OD gears set up, is it always in OD or does it shift into OD automatically?
Brett
E4OD is electronically controlled by the engine's computer. OD can be turned off with a separate button on the shifter handle. My 95 E150 van got a best of 16 mpg with it's roller 351, E4OD and 3.55 rear with 28" tires.
With my 1992 F250 with a 351W, E4OD, 3.73 gears, and a cam, I get 12-13 on the highway and around 10 in the city. I've always wondered if I could do better.
I have a 95 F 350 4x4 with the 5.8, E4OD, 3.55's, and 265/75-16's. It has Ford shortie headers with stock exhaust, and a K&N FIPK. I don't get over 13 with it ever. I average about 10-12. I get about 10-11 around town and 12-13 on the highway. I am not easy on it, but not hard either. I have a friend that has an F 250 with the same engine, tires, and gears but with the ZF 5 speed and he says he gets 16-17 driving 25 miles one way back and forth to work. I don't know if the E4OD eats that much mileage or what, but that is quite a difference.
