I've pulled a 302 out of a 77 2wd to put in a 4wd. The engine runs and doesn't smoke or use oil. the compression on #1 was 145 lbs, #2 #3 #4 were up around 150-155. #5 - #8 were all around 160. Will this cause problems in the future. Plans are to run it until it quits or until I find a winsor or save up to rebuild the 302.
They are.... depends on flywheel (for manuals) flexplate (for autos) teeth. For instance... a car small block starket will not work on a small block truck... I think the same is true for automatics....
i've also read that a manual trans starter and an auto trans starter were different
I believe that is the only difference in the Small block starter... I'm sure i have use the same starter for a 164 and 157 "or whatever the tooth count is" flywheel...But I could be wrong.....
