Have 97 F250 HD CC 4WD. Been looking for nerf/step bars on this forum and elsewhere. I've totally had it. There is not one (1) company that can give me quote on this paticular model. A slam dunk .. yes it will fit.
Currently have fiberglass running rails .. hey they are great and look good, however just a bit to plush for me, and since my wife if a bit vertical challenged I can't remove untill a replacement. Sooooooo ...
Now, I have the thumbs up from the spouse to do this for a Holiday gift. I've been searching the internet for, well a couple weeks. Sure looks like from 99 up there is no problem, however a very gray area in the 97 arena.
I don't have a problem drilling a couple holes here and there to make it work but Damn I'm not goint to spend 3-5 hunderd dollars site unseen just not knowing.
Any Web Sites that do support our OBS 94.5 - 97 that ya all know or and god for bid, maybe FORD makes a OEM version.
I saw some yesterday, though I forget where. Westin brand I believe, about $450 for chrome and a little cheaper for black. I'll see if I can dig up the link here in a bit.
Hussler, Try n-fab.com!!!! I called the manager there; because I have had a problem with my Smitty Built SS bars breaking since they were new. I don't want to bash them; but they had a poor r&d department. N-Fab doesn't have a picture of our trucks;but they do make the bars. The manager told me the bars for our trucks are the stongest bars that they make. Also the stongest in the industry. They will have to fab a special set for my needs; because of my truck camper mounting location. They said it would be no problem. So when I get some extra dead preidents I'll be owning a set myself.
Well think I found some and have them on order. Problem is there is not much out there listed as 1997 F250 HD CC 4WD. I changed to F350 and that allowed me select the CC 4WD model. From there I was able to get the vendor number, go to their web site and download the installation Instructions, crawl under the beast and verify the mounting braket holes were indeed in the right places.
Now for the interesting part ... The front mounting bracket for the bar is connected to the front leaf spring rear shackel bolt, Arggg .. those bolts are turned the wrong way. The nut is facing towards the inside of the frame. Is there an easy way, without dropping the front end to remove that bolt and reverse it. I'm thinking of getting new shackel bolts and with the frame jacked up maybe use it to drive out the old so the nut end of the bolt will be facing out. A suspension expert I am not so any tips or tricks in this area are appreciated.
You will need to jack up the truck by the frame in order to get the pressure off that bolt. The pressure will be too much to remove the bolt. Too bad they mount that way! Thats a pretty stupid place to mount it. Are your fiberglass steps in good shape? what do they look like? I might be interested in buying them depending on what they are.
Rep, they are in good shape, a couple nicks on wheel well areas. You can have them for shipping cost as I will have no use for them. If I can figure out how to PM you will send a photo.
They go over the wheel well. Two pieces for each side, front tire weel well to rear of CC then another from start of bed to rear tire weel well. I'll see if I can create my gallery and post there or PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you some photo's.
