Polisher/Buffer Tool recomendations?

Im looking to find some type of high-speed rotary polisher for use on running boards, the inside of rims and some other surfaces.

Any recomendations on what tool and wheel, brush or pad to use for high speed polishing on surfaces other than paint?

Also, any recomendations on buffers and pads to use for waxng and polishing paint?

Porter Cable 7424 for paint. It is not cheap but it is VERY hard to hurt anything with it. Excellent learning curve with this 1. I wouldn't recomend starting with a $20.00 polisher even if you had someone experienced showing you how to use it

if you dont know how to run a high speed buffer correctly(few do) then the porter cable is a great tool. with foam pads theres almost no chance of hurting the paint. polishes and wax depend on your vehical it self is it light or dark does the paint look good already or does it have oxidation on it. are you trying to remove scratches or just making it look better.

Thanks for the advice guys. My paint looks good already, so i was hopeing to use an ordinary buffer for that and just make it look a little better. I was looking to try out the high speed polisher on more forgiving surfaces, like the inside of rims and on my running boards. So you guys are recomending the porter cable unit for both applications (high speed and for buffing paint)? Also, is the porter a dedicated buffer unit, or is it an adapted grinder? Do you guys use the porter to apply and remove wax? If so, which pads do you use when? Sorry I just have alot of questions.lol. Do you guys have a link, or know a model number for this porter cable unit?

you can get the porter cable on almost any site just type in porter cable polisher in google it will come up. it is a dual action polisher not a high speed polisher so its almost inpossible to burn threw the paint. i like to use foam pads again cause they wont burn threw the paint. if you go to a few car detailing site then you can look up the different pads and what not that they have.

Heres what I use. The white pad comes with it is used for light polishing. This is the improved version of the porter cable. The lake country pads are great. Orange is a light cut/polish pad, white is polishing, black and blue pad is for glazes and waxes.
This is the machine here

Take a look at the Maguires machine, it is made by porter cable, and has a lifetime warranty.
