Well right before Christmas I was browsing my local Tractor supply when I found a TSC toolbox for around $150 and well I had to get it for myself! I mounted it in the truck and I kept having to dig in the toolbox while holding the flashlight for random things so I though how could this be made better?
The requirements...
-2-4hrs of time
-A local Wally-world
-2 interior dome lights $8 (found in the auto interior section)
-about 35 feet of wire (to do it right) (I had this I used 14 gauge)
-Wire strippers/cutters (again I had these) $5-8
-misc connectors and an inline fuse $4
Total around $20
It was really simple and I could have made it simpler by grounding the wires on the frame but stupid me ran them all the way to the battery terminals instead. I wired the wires to the battery and mounted the fuse (5amp) about 2inches from there and ran the wire all the way down and through the frame rail (along the fuel line) and then up between the cab and bed and under the bedliner. It took a little while to figure out but now that I've done it I could probably do it in 2hrs.
Note: The wires ARE NOT being pinched and I do know I need to secure them, I haven't yet but I will by tomorrow!
Looks good. Good idea too. I kept it a bit simplier and just left a light laying in there that I don't have to hold. Now if you make those turn on automatically when you open box that be really cool.

I thought about doing that, it won't be that hard if I want to do it. But for now I'm leaving it alone, right now I prefer them this way.
Nice, I should do that. I should replace the struts on my lids too so I dont have to hold them up all the time.
I used an old stick of pvc pipe. I used to do sprinklers and had the bed box on my old 82.
I like what he did with the interior lights, but the best idea is to have them come on when open. Unless of course you leave the lid open for a few hours...maybe a on/off switch to deactivate the lamps with the lid up and daylight hours?
Not bad.. They actually have lights at Cabelas that attach to the lid with tape.. It has a mercury type switch that when you open up the lid it turns the light on.. Uses batteries.. I need to head to Cabelas and get some because I hate using my flashlight to find stuff..
Looks Good And U Don't Need Batteries But I Just Bought Some Tap On Lights From Walmart That Stick To The Tool Box, So Far I Haven't Had To Replace Batteries And I Have Had Them For 6 Months.
