I'm here again, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to pull power frum to actuate a electric fan relay. I have on of those Flex a Lite Themo electric fan actuators. It has a manual override, A/C over ride and a Temp controled on. I want it to run when key is in the on position. The first wire I tried that had power at run turned out to be turn signals input, fried that fuse, next was sumthin else, blew it to, both were 15 amp. So, now i'm wondering if theres somewhere else I can pull from besides coil and fuel pump relay. My 88 is a fully loaded Lariatso it has everything, so this meens almost all fuse spots are taken, I did however find a unused fuse holder with only one clip inside that has power at ignition on, mabey its my ticket out...god now I'm rambling. Long Day. Thanks-
Hold on here. If you are blowing fuses I'm thinking you are trying to power the fan from these circuits, not just trigger the relay. You need to run a nice heavy wire directly to the battery to power the load side of the relay where the fans are attached, these things pull down some heavy current. Then you run a small wire into the cab from the switch side of the relay, put it through a rocker switch or such and just tap into the fuse box somewhere that has power on it all the time. This side of the circuit will draw very little current, just enough to close the contacts in the relay, so it won't matter what it's attached to.
cant you just attach it to the starter relay on the fender along with the other wires that are attached there??? (the relays and switches I mean) Obviously the main power wire wont work there. atleast im pretty sure not. just my 2 cents

I am pulling main power from the bat, the first thing I was pulling from turned out to be the signals, it's only a 15 amp fuse and if the relay was open at the same time any of the signals or back up lights came on it would pull to much amperage. I think I found my way out. Oh, and i do have a switch, its a manual override, check out the flx-31149 on summitracing.com thats what I've got and I've been working with electronics for awhile, not totaly illiterate.
Thanks for trying but it didn't raly tell me where to pull power from for my relay, all I need is a key on power source from either the fuse pannel or under hood some where. That taurus controler gets constant powere, I'll be going to the desert soon and cant afford to have a fan fire up in the middle of the day a run with the truck off for no reason other than the aluminum radiator got hot. Hope you guys understand what I'm sayin'. Thanks any how.
