I have a 88' F-150 5.0MFI with TFI ignition, but heres the fun one, whats the timing supposed to be at, I'm missing the lovley little EPA Sticked under the hood that all manuals tells me to look at, it's a new hood missing the badge. Thanks-
Any of you running them at 12-14 have to run higher octane? I was wondering if it would detonate at that? I'm gonna try it this weekend.
u wont have any issues running at 12-14 degrees. unless you consider running a little stronger a issue
should you run a higher octane with a more advanced timing? yea but if your not hearing detonation then your fine, i run 17 degress on my mustang, but i do run 108 octane
the only purpose of a higher octane is to prevent knock (detonation)
now if you plane on putting a little nitrous on the motor make sure to pull 2 degrees for every 50hp shot your running , lol sorry i couldnt help giving a little mustnag tech in there for ya
www.fordfuelinjection.com suggests trying 12 deg. but listen carefully for detonation and then try more advanced or back it off depending on the result. I don't want to run the high octane stuff if I don't have to because I'm CHEAP!!!
