I posted in the other forum as well - my guess is 39-41 based on fan directly connected to the generator, distributor style is in the middle - not 36 or earlier, but not 42 crab style or later.
From all the dirt on it I'd guess it's a truck engine...........
$350 is a good price for an uncracked flathead engine block but too much for a cracked block engine. Unless guaranteed by the seller it is a pig in a poke and a $100 to $200 engine imho. there are more than a few guys that have bought 3 or more blocks top find a good one. If the bores are worn too far it cost $100 a hole to sleeve the bores years ago. I am sure it is more now. Buyer beware!

If you look in the background of engine pic, it looks like a set of 5 on 5 1/2" wheels with the hub cap nubs on the inside. If so they might be worth more than the engine.
At least there's caps on the water inlets, exhaust, and carb...looks like an attempt was made a some time, to protect it a little bit.
I haven't decided what to do with my spare, uncracked block...I'll be picking up my new rebuilt on Christmas Eve. Guess it depends on what I'm offered for it, I guess...
Or I'll just store it as a spare, until I die, then whoever's at the auction can take it!
