Auto to manual conversion

I am thinking of converting my 94 F150, 5.8 4X4 to a 5-speed manual and dumping the E4OD. I guess the questions I have are, Would I need to change driveshafts? and How would this effect my computer? The rest I can figure out.

I'm looking at doing the same thing. Reading all the negative posts on this site I just don't trust the E40D and would like to get something that I can trust. Especially the early 90s versions.

I did a shift kit in my E4OD and I love it now, No more SLOW LONG SHIFTS. trans was replaced before I got truck tho. So its all good on my end.

I did this to my '91. You will need to replace the entire driveshaft if you have a 1-piece, or just the front part if you have a 2-piece. Your computer will work with the manual, but it will set several codes related to transmission failure. None of these will make your CEL come on, however. Make sure you get a trans that is for a 4x4. An entire donor truck will help because there are a lot of parts that need to be replaced. Here's a pic of what you need to do the conversion:
