Have a 93 F150 2WD w/ 106K miles & no prior engine problems.
Engine skips, misses at steady speeds or slight accel. Problem is intermittent and is worst at 30-50 mph when truck shudders.
Dealer mechanic says plugs, wires, ignition, IAC & air sys, filters are all OK & no codes are in computer and that I may have to just live with it! I have run 3 tanks new gas w/ injector cleaner thru w/ no change.
Any ideas or solutions out there.
I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.
Have an injector service done on the injectors. The add in tank stuff usually won't do it. If yuo can find a nearby shop that has a Motor Vac. It will clean all of the carbon out of your engine, I had this done when my truck had the 6 in it, and it did run better. Also, the bucking could be caused by a plugged catalytic convertor, if everything else checks out ok. Have the convertors checked by a muffler shop for backpressure, if there is too much backpressure, then it will build up and caus the bucking feeling you are getting.
My own truck did this, I spent over $1,000 trying to figure out what was wrong. Replaced all sensors, distributor, numerous set of plugs, plug wires, and finally ended up being the catalytic convertor. Talk about aggravated, after over $1,000 and I still didn't get any better mileage out of it, I swapped the engine out.
