Ford Svc cd on ebay, best of the lot for the money
can print out pertinent pages and have them under the hood while working, grease no problemo, just reprint
Go with either the factory CD or go with the Factory manuals off of e-bay. That is where I got my set and it is so much more detailed compared to haynes/chiltons you won't believe it. Almost every procedure is detailed with pics/drawings, and they have alot less errors.
i'll have the Ford Truck with '93>'94 and '96 Aero .iso cd images up on my website whenever Comspastic learns how to upgrade their web site system to the new 1 gb limit.
they've been at it 2 months and it only gets worse.
Replacing the heater core has been discussed here a couple of times, and should turn up if you do a search.
However, if you can't find it, here is the condensed version:
1. Drain the coolant.
2. Separate the hoses from the core. This has been done a couple of ways, but the correct way is to get the proper tool from Ford to release the plastic tabs from the spring-lock fittings. Someone has successfully done this with a long nose plier that has a 90 degree bend at the end. The trick is to push the hose into the core nipples to give the spring clips clearance to be pushed away from their latch points. If your cooling system is very dirty or corroded, this may be very difficult. So some people, like me, just cut off those plastic ends and pushed the rubber hoses onto the nipples, and held them on with regular hose clamps. You may need to install short hose extensions for this modification.
3. Open the heater box. Someone did this by removing the glov box to get at all the bolts that hold the heater box together. I removed the lower panel of the dash, but this could be difficult if you have a graphic equalizer.
4. Assembly is the reverse, with the possible exception of the hose connections. You need to keep the foam rubber surround of the old heater core and re-install it with the new one to help seal it to the box.
Sometimes sevrice manuals are writen like for down sindrome kids. Other manusls are for idiots, theirs author understand, that idiocy is very creative and describe absolutle idiotic ideas and say to you DO NOT DO IT....
