And Cummins makes a special version of the engine just for Dodge so it will fit.
A 1300HP Dodge drag rig is using a 5.9 6BT meant for water pumps. They are about the same size, but i believe the industrial 5.9 block has more internal reinforcement then the Dodge engine.
The 8.3 L Cat will not fit in the Ford F-series. It will never happen, not to mention that I doubt CAT even has the capacity to do light duty trucks, medium, heavy and their own equipment
I dunno about the 6.7, but the 5.9 Cummins in the Dodges was the same thing that was in everything else. We have a '96 Ford F800 with a 12V cummins in it, it's a 5.9, same engine.

1996...that was eleven years ago, the topic stated 2008.
This is beyond stupid. Whoever started this ...seriously do you think that ford would go out and contract 2 of their biggest diesel engine competitors when they are having HUGE bankruptcy issues and cant even get along with navistar international? Lets not just post things we hear our salesman say.
From what I heard from my serviceman, Ford is going to offer a flux-capacitor as retrofit for all trucks fitted with the 6.0. He said they were going to do this because he heard that within 150,000 miles all 6.0s will just fall apart.....
It always amazes why people think Cummins is the best. Maybe its an inline 6 I dont know. But when Ford came out with there powerstroke 7.3 in 94 it revolutionized the V-8 diesel motor in pickup applications. Before that an inline diesel motor was superior to a V-8 but direct injection{powerstroke] changed all that big time. The GM 6.5. Fords 7.3 IDI an GMs attempts at early diesel cars an trucks 6.2 an other failed miserably compared to the gas engines available at the time. The one thing thats fact though is all these engines have to meet EPAs new emmisssions which are pretty strict on all these engines. Heres another thing for you Ford history buffs. 6 cyliner gas motors for cars an trucks was the only thing you wanted back in the 30s an 40s. Henry Ford hated 6 cylinder motors to power motors. He firmly believed that a V-8 cast in one block was the answer. It cost Ford tons off money to develop a mass produced V-8 motor but Henry was persisitent an thus the flathead V-8 was developed for Ford cars an trucks. The first successful V-8 in any vehicles. So Fords V-8 an 7.3 powerstroke were two off the biggest innovations in automotive history. Sorry for the history lesson just some thoughts there.
i have more important things to worry about like when is my first re-generation gonna happen?will my warrenty be voided because i removed the muffler, where is the exhaust resycle switch so i can unplug it, how do i plug off the vacumn lines from the front hubs when i install the manual warn hubs, does my new altermnater really put out 200 amps and wont that burn up my batterys, if i let the air out of the inside dually tires will i save fuel, will my limited slip rear end cause the front tires to wear out in turns. so many things to worry about.
