I Was Wondering. I Just Purchased My First Diesel, Its A 96 F-450 Flatbed I Own An Asphalt Business And I Put A 500 Gal Tank And Spray Unit On This And Was Wondering If It Will Have The Power To Pull All Of This Weight. The Total Load Shouldnt Weigh More Than 6000 Lbs. I Had A 1980 Ford F-350 Gasser With A 460 In It That Pulled Pretty Good But Was Getting Tired And Had To Hold The Peddle To The Floor To Get It Up Steep Hills. ( Will This Diesel Pull As Good Or Better Than The Gasser. Will I Notice A Difference At All.

Take care of the truck and you will be proud of how hard it will work for you.
The diesel will do anything you want it to do, for as long as you want it to. Last friday drove my truck home from school for christmas break NC to WV only stopped once for 5 min to stretch and RR break...Its a 9 Hour drive I ran 70 mph all the way slowed to 65 mpg goin across fancy gap...but the truck never gave a hoot and there are alotta mountains to cross and still got 20 MPG...I love these Powerstrokes Deff a true work horse. BTW I now have 320,000 miles on her.

the programmer, the 1.0 housing, and maybe the fuel blend he is getting is probably what pushes him to 20mpgs. heck mine gets 17.5 and that's not even interstate driving, I'm takin' her to the in-laws in a couple days, we'll see how she does on the open road
My PSD will pull a fully loaded 4 horse trailer up a 2 miles steep hill, cruise set at 70 and it wont budge down at all. Just sit back and listen to the turbo scream.
My mods and the 3.55 are what helped me...it purrs like a kitten...I usually fill up with 600-700 miles 1 tank has about 1-2gal left and the other still has 4-5 gal left. Im proud of my mileage too...check out my sig for what my truck has. Im not sure how your programmers do with increasing your mileage, but my hypertech programmer on the high perf setting is where its been since ive installed it and I gained 2 MPG with it. I use to get 16mpg mixed 18mpg hwy now i get 18 mixed and 20hwy. I have seen as high as 22mpg, but that was following a buddy 480 miles on the same road who did 50-60 uphill and coasted to 75 down the other side and I was doing the same, he was towing I was empty.

I have a 96 F350 with 160K miles that I regularly pull a 5,000lb trailer with. The truck accelerates faster without the trailer, but on the highway, you would never know that there was a trailer behind it. I have the solid flywheel, and 3.55 gears behind a 5 speed manual and I always get 20MPG on the highway without the trailer. I get 16MPG highway with the trailer! I have had gassers in the past, but will never go back to one. Just my opinion.
