Well today I was able to get out and tinker with the truck for the first time in a long time. Had no sound out of the driver side front speaker, fix that! Been contiplating on gutting the cat, Finally did that! WOW! What a difference!! should have done that a long time ago. Then I came in and jumped onto FTE and saw Rubberduck's thread on the front seat repair, well... fixed that too!! WooHoo!!! Feels like I'm driving a newer truck. next on the list, fuel pump and shocks.
I just wanted to thank all of you on FTE for all the great information and thanks to Rubberduck, I can now see over the dash
Glad I could help Rick. Did you fix stuff, or do the cardboard?
I was running short on time so I did the cheap and easy way for the moment. When I pulled the pad off the lower portion, it looked identical to the pics that you posted. Broken springs and dowel in the same place. Must be common from sliding in and out of the truck. I plan to get over to Home Depot and pick up the same items you used to fix it correctly, but will still use some cardboard due to the wire working itself pretty deep into the foam.
Didn't even mess with the Back portion because it too was broken and I don't have access to a welder at the moment. That will be on the to to list next time I pull the seat.
I was thinking the wire in the foam was too deep too. Maybe I just need to use a smaller piece of board. But it made a big difference didn't it. I was suprised.
