i believe it was an option, but was added by most of the dealers no matter what. pretty sur mine is on the right side of the truck in the bumper by the tow hook or the driving light.
it is an options if you do not live in the cold states that ford specifies, if it does not have one then you can buy the cable at ford since they claim all superdutys have the heater just not the cord unless you get the option or the truck was shipped to one of the cold states from the factory
there should be a small plug-in in one of the freeze plugs on the engine block, try getting under the truck and looking for the plug in, if you see a wire running from the block to somewhere, track it down and it could be the heater cable already installed, if not and you see the plug-in in the block then you can buy the cable from ford for around $35, or what you would pay for the option on the truck
It is behind and above the starter in the block. They all come with the heater, the cable is an option in many markets. You can get the cable from the dealer and it will come with directions for routing.
The option is a joke. Ford should include more states then they do. I live in WA and had to have it added I guess 10 degrees isn't cold enough to add this little item.
it is not, since ford keeps talking about how the diesel can start in temps of -20* so basiclly they only make the option standard for states that see temps below that frequently during the winter time
I am actually speaking from personal experience. Seattle does not get to those temps but east of the mountains does(the rest of Washington State)as well as my cabin one hour from here. I needed one, forgot to check the box when I ordered my truck this time. Usually I don't forget. The cord is 90 bucks but is much easier to put on then it was on the 6.0 liter. Ford is cheap and does not include as many states as they should. Also, this thing takes forever to warm up. even if it was 0 degrees its nice to have your coolant warm up quicker and yes I have the supplemental heat but I hate starting my trucks 45 minutes early to get them warmed up. You ever go to Mercedes Red Dragon? I used to go there when I was a kid to have a few cocktails.

Don't have the part @ but you can get the cord @ a Navistar dealer for about 1/2 the price it is @ Ford dealer.
