Backfires & Loses power ......

ok when im drivin my 99 f150 , its like it backfires in the muffler , and loses power , and then it straightens out , and does it again , over and over. wat cud be causin this to happen ? ive had a few people tell me the gas may have water in it .....anybody else kno ?

Maybe plugged cats or somehow fuel is getting to the cat.

Yeh, thats it unhook and run a ram rod through the catalyst, start her up to clear it out. Hook it back up and you'll be all set!!!!!!!Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!

buddy of mine runs a muffler shop , and i took it to him , and he said the cats aint stopped up and plus the check engine light aint on he said ......

Sounds like it is firing late like perhaps a bad spark plug.

Mine would cut back and lose power. I had a car of another make do the same thing it was a broken plug wire. Took the truck to a mechanic and he said start with the cheapest thing and keep chasing it. Started with fuel treatment. No. Went to a fuel filter. No. Then we changed plugs and plug wires. That fixed it. He said the next thing would have been coil packs.
