I felt as though this topic had been adressed many times before, but could not find all the answers after an hour of searches. I finished pulling my 85 300 and have realized that I dont have to pass emissions until I go to renew my registration in december 09 and in january the car will be 25yrs old and not have to pass emissions. I have a clifford intake and a holley 390 on the way. Since the egr is going to be eliminated and I am going to change up the ignition I think now might be the time to remove the emissions stuff, I dont expect a performance gain, but I enjoy simplicity and a clean engine compartment. I already bent up and exhaust without cats that will bolt up to the efi dual exhaust manfiolds. Where do I start and where should I stop?
Thanks,
Sean
PS The clifford intake does not have the stock mounts for the throttle cable, should I make something and tack it to the vavle cover?
I used the stock throttle mount with a little bit of modification. I'm using an Offy intake & was able to mount a "L" bracket to the intake & then mount the throttle mount to that. Not sure how the Clifford intake is set-up, but you might be able to fabricate a plate that would bolt under the carb & then mount the throttle mount to that.

Did you drill and tap the intake? I think the plate under the carb seems like a simple easy solution. thanks
The Offy "C" has 2 holes that are cast in & go all the way through the intake (for a heating plate on the bottom). I just installed heli-coils & used the 2 holes to mount the "L" bracket. Its been a while since I've looked at a Clifford intake, but I don't think that there are any similar holes.
