The 6.4 is very strong, and reliable so far engine (40k on mine) Just the damn radiator can't stay together, but if that's the worst of it then I'm in love.
i hope there good!!! my 2006 6.0L is a joke i cant keep it out of the shop for more than 2 weeks anymore. no programmer or anything in it all regular mtce and dont really work it other than tow my boat, 80 000 km on it. I just want to know that the new 6.4 is good before i take a huge loss on mine to get a new one
The verdict is still out on mine...4800 miles and the DPF is shot.poor mpg, poor performance. To be honest if I had to do it over again I would not by one. The truck is awsome..the the 6.4L......hummmmmm.
It has the power that most need.Check the forms. Very few complants about the engine The fuel milage is the leading complant. I like mine alot. 2300 miles.
So far the engine is the only thing that is good on my 2008 if you don't count the computer that has been flashed about 4 times now! Read my post (My 2008 f250 6.4 is junk)
I have had great luck with my truck so far with about 8350 miles on it. I have a friend who is a die hard Dodge fan who claimed the new Dodge engine would have 500 hp and tons of torque, but the 6.7 liter has the same 350hp with 650 ft lbs of torque, so I wonder if the only advantage it has is that it is a straight six.

Im hearing the 6.7 is the worst out of the three. and rightfully so since its a gay dodge!!!!
the problem with the 6.7 cummins is the DPF but there is a bypass system for it, but thats another issue. unless ford/international can get there issues worked out, i'm going to pray that i can squeeze as many miles out of my 7.3(best diesel ford/international ever made) before i upgrade. the mpg's posted on here are pathetic for next gen. technology, my 96 7.3 get upward of 22 mpg. they can keep there 6.4 until they get the bugs worked out
I was just checking out the Chevy Duramax engine and they quote it at 360 hp at 3200rpm as to Ford's and Dodges 350 at 2000 rpm, and 650 ft lbs of torque at 1600 rpms to Ford's and Dodge's 650 ft lbs of torque at 2000 rpm. I really don't know what these differences mean, but I am shocked at how small they really are to my layman's perspective. When I bought my truck this Autumn I was made to feel that I had the worst engine out there among the big three.

Not to point out flaws in responses, but dodge actually produces peak torque at 1500 rpms not 2000. And ford produces peak torque at 2000 rpms. DOES ANYONE CHECK FACTS BEFORE POSTING???????

Both Ford and Dodges peak h.p ratings are at close to 3,000 rpm not 2,000 rpm.
And Cummins says this about the Dodge diesel truck:
This engine is rated with 350 horsepower at just 3013 rpm. The 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel achieves a peak torque of 650 lb-ft at 1500 rpm for the automatic transmission configuration and maintains that peak torque all the way to 2800 rpm (a "best in class" capability for a heavy-duty diesel pickup) and a full 610 lb-ft peak torque for the manual transmission.
