first time deisel owner of a 2004 f350 6.0 crewcab dually (my yacht)
problem #1 squeaking noise around belt pulleys for about 10 minutes after starting engine, then it stops. belt has been replaced recently and i cant tell where the noise is exactly
problem #2 engine runs and shifts rough until warm. i live in florida so cold weather isnt an issue. do i need to let it idle for 5 to 10 mins before driving?
question im looking into front leveler leaf springs for bigger tires and looks only. how complicated and expensive is it to achieve?
It has been a little while since I had front leaves(coils on the new ones), but I tried a few different leveling kits on SDs. Hanger drops are pretty difficult, replacement leaves are hard, but the one I liked most was from Skyjacker. It just had an add-a-leaf and new trac bar mount and was really easy to install. It firmed up the ride a tadd and I think it was a little over 3 bills.
Welcome to FTE troyhay.
Belt squeak could be the idler pulley. What oil do you use and how often changed? What fuel additive do you use? Water in the fuel causes rough idle.

I replaced my stock 16" wheels and BFGs, and now I am running 20" eagle alloys with Goodyear Wrangler LT 275 65R 20 tires on the same truck you have (04 350 CC 4x4 6.0L). It is on the stock suspension, and nothing ever rubs, and it looks great. Eagle alloys are very economical also, and available in a number of diameters. Have fun!
The truck should not run rough at all when you first start it up. I would run an oasis report on it to see what has been done. I know I took my truck in for the air conditioning one time and was't until I got the oasis report that I found out they had replaced the exhaust back pressure sensor due to a TSB. Even in florida you could still have stiction on the injectors. You could check to see if it has the heat induction flash for that problem.
i use rotella oil and have changed it every 4 to 5k and it is due to be done now. i have used lucas fuel additive and another i cant remember the name, reccommended by ford but i havent noticed a difference. i had a wif sensor issue that was fixed. i cant even say that it idles rough. it runs rough when i try to drive it before it warms up and shifts rough too but both act fine if i let it idle about 5 minutes before i drive it. i bought this truck 5mos ago with 87k miles and it now has 95k. both issues just started recently within past 30 days. i have only changed the oil, oil filter once. i even changed fuel filters when i had the wif sensor issue. i have only added fuel additive only twice. i have the owners manual but for some reason its missing the 6.0 supplement so i may not be servicing everything i could. i will try to get an oasis report.

I had the same problem as you with the belt squeak. The dealer needs to replace the idler pulley, waterpump pulley, and put on a new belt. This should all be covered under your 100,000 mi warranty. As for riding rough when cold, mine will just shift firmer until warmed up. It also does not run near as strong until warmed up. Hope this helps
Troyhay, were you aware that you can purchase an extended warranty from FMC on the engine that will cover it out to 200k mikes and a total of 7 years? Prices vary, but I think you can get it for around $1500, but you have to buy it before you reach 100k.
i was aware of extended wty but have not had much success with them before. everything is covered when they sell it to you but whatever goes wrong later never seems to be covered! is FMC= ford motor credit?
I would think about needing an updated flash with the inductive heating from Ford. My truck was the same, ran rough until it was warm and the updated flash pretty much stopped that. Mine shifts harder when cold which is normal but the motor runs almost perfect right when it starts up.
