not as a 4x4, only 2wd, if you wanted a long 4x you had to do the conversion , that's what I did on mine with d-80's front/ rear

have a 78 F250 4x4 here in iowa, undergoing a total frame-off resto now. Does anybody have the two small pieces of racetrack trim that is between the doors? It's a piece that is ~2 " long.
If anybody has pics of their nice crews, can you post them somewhere or send me a link to your gallery? Thanks. can also send them to me @ emjohan@mchsi.com

I have a fairly new to me 74 4x4. It is a good looking truck (pics in gallery) and only needs minor work, but very soon it will undergo a pretty big transformation.

I'm putting a cummins diesel, dana 60 front axle, corporate 14 rear, 64" chevy rear leafs and possibly a radius arm/coilover conversion on the front. It will also get a Line-Xed floor and bed as well as late model seats.

thats cool as long as it's 4x, I've got a couple of each including the first 79 f-250 crewcab 4x4 made, that is presently on 6" superlift springs, d-60 front, d-70 rear, p-stroke diesel, e4od, should be finished next year

is it a 6cyl truck? if not it should have a low pinion 60 in it, nice conversion with a cummins! to really make it work use the dodge 61 front with 3.07's and a 518 od trans, my buddy has that combo and it pulls better than a freight train on nitrous!

Naw - it's got a 360. It has a disk brake high pinion 44 in it now. I'm pretty positive it originally came with a closed knuckle 60, but who knows when that came out. I've only had it for 3 months or so - and it's just sat outside that whole time.

My dodge donor vehicle is 2wd so no front axle to use - plus I already have my 60 for it. My dodge also has a weaker, non OD auto (chrysler 727) which I am hoping to replace with a NV4500. If I can't afford one of those then I am looking around at other Auto tranny's. The 727 is a non OD, and I want/need an OD for towing.

I just got one

I picked up a 77 crew cab F-250 4x4 with very little rust none in the cab at all a small spot on the drivers side rear bed fender thank god for Texas and Arizona runs and drives great. I just tuned it up and now you can stand outside the cab and start it right up one tap of the pedal and right up on high idle you can even start it on a 25 degree day and drive away immediatly no problem it's amazing 30 years old all original and still runs like new. As far as the moldings go I have the full top and bottom moldings even the little pieces between the doors. I am amazed how complete this truck is.
Got to love these old Fords.............

Crewcab racetrack pieces are ugly IMO.

My $500 4X4 with lots of issues

My $750 retired work never been maintained unless it broke truck

I agree with masterbeavis. I soldthe race track trim off my other 2wd crew. Not a fan of the chrome trim at all...

If you're looknig for trim I know a guy with a set or 2 (yes 2!) of NOS. Yup - you read it right - NOS! Still in the package. His name is George and he's in San Diego. He was selling a crew cab with a 7.3L powerstroke in the classifieds. Look up his email there and tell him Steve sent you over!
