I know that I have a Vacuum leak because my heater blows from the floor to defrost when I step on the throttle. My question is "what is the best and quickest way to locate it".It is a 97 f150. Can I spray carb cleaner around the hoses or is this a BAD idea ?
the vacuum line comes off the motor and heads dwon the firewall toward the passenger side and goes behind the battery to an accumulator. in front of the glove box, on the firewall there is a TEE in the plastic line. the line TEEs and goes into the firewall toward the heater control. Look at the TEE, and the hose ends, and the line toward the battery.
thanks for the help. I checked out the vacuum lines today and found that the vacuum line from the tee to the res. had a crack in it. i taped it up so that i can see if this will fix my problem. We will be having a nor-easter coming in tonight so i will not be able to make sure that this was the only leak. thanks for all the help in locating the place to start trouble shooting.
