I borrowed a Mityvac to test some things on the truck. My coffee (juice) can vacuum reservoir leaks down a little and so does my vacuum advance unit on the distributor. Should these parts hold steady vacuum and not leak . I am pretty sure the reservoir should hold but I am not sure about the vac advance module. Also, would the reservoir be a vacuum leak with the check valve ahead of it.
One way I like to double check the vacuum advance, is to remove the cap and rotor, manually advance the plate with my finger, then hold another finger over the vacuum port opening. It should hold steady until you release your finger. I've seen those hand held vacuum pumps leak down internally. The connection between the hose and nipple on the advance could be a source of a leak as well.
I was using a good hand pump that does hold vacuum and the hose connections were good. Do these parts need some attention due to the vacuum leakage? It seems the vac advance does and the cannister shouldn't have an impact on performance. Is this correct?
So will my module have a part number on it or is it based on the model of the distributor so I get the correct unit? What about the vacuum canister? Should I worry about this leak?

Better check those refs again, Dennis....NONE of these distributors you listed above are for a 460...See the parts catalog section and page numbers for verification. The ones I listed in my above post were looked in the Ford parts catalog by application and are correct.
