It's not going to squeel it's *** off, because there is traction control on the new 3V's with fly by wire throttle. It's built in to the programming, and not something that can be turned on and off by a switch on the dash like some of us may be used to seeing.
I know this because, I've done some custom tuning on my '06, and with the custom tune installed it will spin the tires with ease, and on the factory tune it will not, although both tunes made exactly the same rwhp on the dyno.
My 2005 will spin, smoke the rear tires if I want. It'll leave two black lines on the pavement if I want.
You might want to find another owner of a 2005+ V10 and ask them to drive your truck to judge the power. That should tell if it just perception or something mechanically wrong.

Martint, has this truck always been that way, or did the performance just fall off?
Modifing torque control along with shuting off traction control in the factory tune makes any truck/car with Fords Drive by Wire come alive...Much Much better drivability..
i smell 2 new user bait rats here, anyone else? call it like it is people. merry christmas to everyone here. and a toast to the best gas engine ford has ever made, and they are clueless about. matt
You maybe talking about me, V10wagoneer, and I am clueless about this v10, thats why I am on this forum. I am going today to get new fuel filter, air filter, and plugs and boots. I am replacing with all motorcraft parts, and I will let u know how it works out.
As for spinning the tires, mine wont, with the factory size, skinny tires, tried it several times.
Neither will my gmc for that matter, but it has oversized tires.
Oh one other thing.I saw on another thread someone talking about TBS's, I bought a throttle body spacer for my wifes Expedition(sold) and one for my 2000 gmc Z71 with 5.3liter. the gmc went from 17.1 to 19.3 on gas mileage(on a long trip, all interstate miles)would not even think about spinning tires on dry pavement, 5 minutes after i installed, i tried again and they spun a little . More torque.
On the expedition with the 4.6liter, mileage went from 16.9 to 17.6, all of these were hand figured. In my opinion it worked. Not trying to debate, just giving my experiance. Ok going now to get service done.
Do the tune-up you're talking about and see what happens. The V10 is a different animal than other engines. Learn how to use it, read up on its attributes and such.
Those of us that got the "first runs" in the Super Duty had to re-learn a few things - like High-RPMs are not a bad thing and that the little things like boots, rubber elbows, and fuel filters mean alot, etc. etc.
Sort of goes for the OP, too. The V8 engines have been around a long time. Folks have gotten used to them - the way things run, the little things that crap out and such. Just read up on these little things about the V10. The best place to do that is here at FTE. Lots of great folks here with great ideas.
And don't fall for the gimmicks. If the gimmicks would have worked for better gas mileage, driveability, etc. they would have been part of the OEM package.
Thanks for the welcome Big Orn. I just got back.
$789.00 total. New dual exhaust, flowmaster series 40, larger diameter pipe from converter to the tail. 10 new plugs(motorcraft) and boots and springs, air and fuel filter, oil and filter 5w20and fl820, cleaned MAF,and some other stuff i cant remember. NO Noticable change, but at least all maintenence is done, agghhh, at Christmas time too. You maybe right, may have to get used to it. Its the wifes truck anyway.
Well I don't know..Had about the same truck CC, LB, Dually,4:30 diff V-10. Pulled a nearly 13K 5th wheel all over the country. It may scream..it may even huff and puff a bit on some really steep grades but it did a really good job.Dog it was not. We now have the 6.4L diesel and there is NOT $5300.00(x plan price for the diesel motor) worth of difference..
no, actually 00sahara, i was talking about FORD being clueless, not you. sorry for any confusion. they dont, and have never promoted the v10 engine, and i think its time they wake up. it is ridiculous with diesel prices where they are. there is no savings to buying a diesel right now at all. WAKE UP FORD!
Oh ok. Well here is something u guys might like, or not,I just thought it was pretty neat. My wife and i went to get this truck in south GA. We live in central Alabama so it was a small drive for a great deal.
My wife really wanted this truck, and made a promise to the owner of the dealership that we would be coming for it, not to sell it. He assured us that it was really well taken care of and his service dept. did all the service to it. He also told us it belonged to the family of THE MAN. HENRY FORD. He said it was on the family farm and belonged to Henry Ford's granddaughter. Well this was a stretch for us to believe, we joked about it on the ride down, and forgot about it until we read the back of the title. It said,"To the Estate of Henry Ford"
Well anyway,i thought it was pretty neat myself.
The 2002 Ford F-250 CC V-10 4x4 is great on the inside, runs and drives good, but has some scratches and dents on the paint. It does look like it was used on a farm a little bit ,but for the price and condition otherwise it was a good investment.
It's not going to squeel it's *** off, because there is traction control on the new 3V's with fly by wire throttle.
Believe me, this is the first time I've heard of this. For the '08, yes, it has traction control...
But 05-07, no... not that anyone here was aware of.
The torque-limiting stuff in the PCM, yes. But that's not TRACTION CONTROL.
Traction control is when it actually does clamp down on the brake caliper for the spinning wheel(s). The PCM not giving all the torque available at will, well, that's something else again.
Call it what you want. Limiting output through torque management tables, limiting throttle input with fly-by-wire are all ways of limiting wheel spin. I realise does not use break pulsing like typical "traction control" does.
My point was that my truck won't break them loose on a hard dry pavement on the factory tune, but does with ease on custom tune, even when the measured power output of the truck was the same.
