Like Ive said I really could care less about highsteer. On a mud/hunting truck when do you ever really see the tie rod getting in the way? Ive decided to do away with the highsteer tie rod in exchange for the normal stock tie rod. Most people who know me know that Im after the least amount of lift to fit the tires on the truck. For me a 8" lift would clear 44s fine with a little more hacking at the fenders. Im not lifting the truck any more right now. In fact I dont see how it would be possible to use highsteer with even a 8" lift. Lift isnt the factor in this point. Its that GD crossmember!
Quad if you bring Fishys tube bender and your welding helmet I will put a tube chassis under this truck! Not only have I seen the light I have drank the Bud Light and anything is possible at this point!
Stroke,
If I turn the pitman arm the opposite way I will only make matters worse. On a 79 250 the steering box is in front of the axle and usually the pitman arm faces the driver side front tire. In my case with crossover I am turning the pitman arm 90* from stock so that it faces the rear driver side tire.
BTW. I am working in the "most detailed MFer" of a tech article....as we speak...well maybe Ill correct some stuff tomorrow when I sober up

is it a bad thing for the drag link to be at a 1.5-2* neg angle sloaping down toward the pitman arm?
If it isnt life threatning Im going to run the truck as is for now until I get a stock 79 F150 pitman arm. If not Ill go ahead and get the correct arm which would probably put the drag link level or maybe 1-2* positive angle

mudfest: the craziest badest *** mud boggin party of the year....
more beer and bewbies than you could ever imagine....the MOST insane trucks.....it is by far the biggest gathering of mud trucks(many way over 1000hp) in the world without a doubt.....people come from all over....its a little crazy at times, and the 4 wheeler traffic is insane but it is the coooooolest!
feb. 8th-10th
feb. 8th is 4 wheeler only day, no trucks in the bog, but sat. and sunday is open for all........its *****ing awsome!
wish i had seen this earlier, sorry STG! the few x-overs i have assisted with we only had one hi-steer arm on the pass side and the drag link connect that arm with the pitman arm (generally stock since the hi-steer arm raises the slope a good deal). then the stock tie rod goes on top of the stock knuckles after reaming them. thats how i am running the bronco right now actually! of course very soon i should have no tie rod or pitman arm
i have a reamer but it wasnt too bad. i bought it from bronco graveyard for something like $70. it was worth that to me b/c first time i took my pitman arm to a machine shop to have them do it i got charged $75!
heres how i see it.....just use a hole saw, and cut out the bottom of your crossmember, or while we're at it, so it never becomes a problem in the end, just cut the whole crossmemeber out, your motor mounts will hold the frame together....LOL.....ok serious i think your screwed unlsess you lift it more, or go back to stock steering.....best of luck
