Rear Hatch Shocks

Well as the temp get's colder my rear hatch tends to stay up less on it's own. I know cold weather tends to effect this so i wasn't sure it should be almost totally useless. So here's my ?

Has anyone replaced these if so did you use replacement factory or is there a better aftermarket brand if they even exist?

Whatever brand you go with (I imagine they are all made in the same factory but branded by the buyers) get the ones for a 2WD. You'll get more hatch height when opened. Do a search for "struts" and you'll find many posts concerning them. You may even find some links to where to buy them.

My rear hatch struts are bad as well. Thanks for this tip! I will put them on my truck.

Any idea why the 2WD ones are taller?

Cause a 2wd sit's closer to the ground, so they have to open the rear hatch higher.

I just got a pair at Pep Boys about a month ago for about 60. 2wd or 4wd struts dont matter for me being I am up 6 inches already. Actually it sucks for my wife so I keep a rope tied to the hatch so she can pull it back down. She is verticaly challenged at 5'1". LOL

BAJI26, is this correct? I called Pep Boys today and those are special order for that store. Thus pay in advance no return. He had a different part # SG304066 I think.
I will order them before the Jan. 5 rebate expires but want to confirm the part number and that there were no problems.
You said they were longer than standard 2WD?
I don't want to have to get a ladder to shut my glass or stress the wiper motor harness.
Thanks, Rich.

I ordered two SG304046's from Rockauto.com Friday the 14th, at 2:00 p.m., got them this morning (Tuesday, 18th), delivered to my door, $39.52 total. (no rebate, bummer, still a good price)

Shweet, no more gate dropping on my head.

Just ordered a set of SG304046's from PepBoy's for $51.xx. I'll be sending in the rebate to get $25.xx back from the buy one get one free offer.

Rich (Move I'm coming over), Thanks for posting the PepBoys rebate info. It certainly wasn't very well advertised when I went in and it certainly wasn't offered by the salesperson.

Well I think I have to order set. My daughter is tired of having to hold the metal fence post in place while I load things in back.
