My 2000 F350 has began to make a low beeping tone which is different than
the lights on and keys left in the ignition. It will sound while driving for a few
times and then go away until another stop start engine cycle. I probably need
to read the codes to find the problem. Any ideas would be helpful.
Maybe a bad/failing connection with one of the indicators like the key in the ignition, or seat belt monitor. The other thing might be moisture somewhere starting to short one of those connections as well. Have you recently had the windsheild replaced?
Do you have the backup sensor in your rear bumper? Mine went off for awhile right after I got my truck "new to me" and it took me several days to figure what that strange sound was. It is a complete different sound than the light, seatbelt, key etc.
How many different warning signals are available in the dash or fuse box?
The only one I knew about was the keys and light on when the ignition was off.
What are we working on ? In my 99 I get a chime for the lights on , keys in ign., a beep when I try to move with the parking brake on.
Same goes for my 02. The hey-your-keys-in chime is slow while the hey-your-lights-are-on chime is fast. However the keys-in will override the lights-on chime. There is a slow chime for the driving-while-parking-brake-on which sounds similar to the key-in chime. The low-fuel-light also has a chime but its a continuous tone, similar to the open-door-while-driving tone. OH and theres the seat-belt-minder chime as well, but that sounds like the key-in chime as well. I hope i didn't forget any!!!
Thanks for all the input ! It is a slow tone that might be the parking brake on.
No parking brake light though. It just seems to be a lower tone than the normal chime. Thank again.

by "it will sound for a few times" do u by chance mean that it sounds 5 sets of 5 beeps maybe? if so then u probably have the same prob as my truck were the light for the air bag system is out and needs to be replaced, either that or there is a problem with ur airbags.
