The other day my 90 F150 SC turned over, caught and then ran rough for a few seconds before finding its fast idle speed. Did the same thing this morning. Settles in and runs great after finding the fast idle speed. Has only done this twice, both times on initial startup for the day. Is this a sign the TPS is going south? Guess I need to run the codes, but was just curious about opinions on this. No complaints other than this occasional startup glitch.
Idle Speed Control?...do you mean air bypass valve? Replaced it not too long ago, and regularly clean it. If not, what and where is the idle speed control?
Yes , Idle air bypass , Idle speed control , different name same sort of device . If thats not the case then maybe you have some cold enrichment problems . Get a resistance reading from the Ect & Act sensors & see what they say . For instance if the coolant & outside air temp is in the 50 deg range you should have about 58 Ohms , the resistance will decrease with coolant & air temp increses . At normal operating temp the resistance should be 2 to 3 ohms .
