What's the best way to get at the door jamb switches that turn the dome light on\off on a '79? I can't find a clean way in there. I can unbolt the switches and pull them forward but the wiring for them keeps them tucked in. I need to replace them.

Thanks NumberDummy. Actually, I haven't had trouble finding where to get them; I'm having trouble removing the old ones. It seems like I need to get behind them but can't find an easy way to get in. Any ideas?
Can't answer that one either; looking forward to finding out as well; next spring i will be restore a 78 model ofr my daughter. My drivers side works if I wiggle it. I do know the local autoparts stores sell replacement parts for these switches.
Keep us informed.
In conjunction with what Mil1ion said, attatch a string to the switch so that if you want , you can pull it out by the wires thru the access hole he mentions and then pull the new one back thru by the string like electricians do.
You can remove the glove box and speedo cluster and theres two rubber plugs that the wire goes through down to the door switch. Just make sure you tie a string to the wire befor you pull it out.
