40 gallon rear fuel tank?
I noticed in the Ford shop manual that they show the capacity for the fuel tank of the 1992 Super-Duty chassis as 40 gallons.
Will these fit on an F-250 long-bed if you remove the spare tire junk?
My truck: 1992 2WD F-250 SuperCab 7.3L 5-spd 4.10 rear. Use 5w-40 Rotella Synthetic in crankcase & Deep Purple Synthetic ATF in the Trans. 38K on new Jasper longblock, Bought truck from local University (MSU - 09/20/06). Replaced O-rings on return line caps with Viton. Now on to tackling Biodiesel!!

I think the best you can mount there with a box is a 33 gallon off a Bronco.....

if they give the dimensions in the manual for the tank, should be pretty easy to figjre out. you planning on using both that and the oem tank? could be more trouble than it's worth trying to hook up switching system between tanks if you don't already have it. personally, I can barely afford to fill the standard front and rear tank in my 90, much less a 40 rear plus a 19 front. good luck.

I would like to have the large rear tank for Biodiesel. I have to replace some fuel lines anyway, so I figure why not just replace the entire tank and re-pipe it with new lines (including return line) all the way to the fuel pump, adding a Holley Red pump along the way. And, with 182,000 on it, those fuel pick-ups are going to be going soon too. I've not had problems yet, but it's time.

My trucks' front tank is leaking and there seems to be air getting in the lines somewhere from the rear tank so I gotta get in there and look at it anyway. I already bought the front tank, but I wouldn't mind having the big rear tank as well for extra range or whatever (could just run off one tank most of the time)
All the spare tire stuff is gone from under my truck. Does the Bronco tank just bolt right in with the right straps?

Dave;
where did you get the tank? Is it steel or something else? Would like to find one that is Biodiesel compatible.

It is a steel tank, right now I don't remember the name.
I looked at one of their catalogs a while back, I think the biggest one they have now is 40 gallons.
But I was not looking that close at the rear tanks.
I will try to get by the radiator shop and get the name in the next couple days or if I can see the name on the tank with my bed up I will get it tomorrow.
Fits just like the stock tank, but you use much longer bolts to fasten the skid plates up.
Stock fuel sender fits right in the hole, but you have to modify the pickup tube and float arm.
For some reason I am thinking Perfection might be the name, but that may be way off base.

Are you running pure bio oil? if so, you an use anything that fits(such as a marine tank), because the bio is not considered a hazardous material, it doesn't have to be a DOT aproved fuel tank. If you can wield, you could even make one out of some SS or alum, if nothing else is reasonable.
