I have a stock 2001 F-250 Platinum Edition 4x4 PSD W/ 135,000 miles. I woun't to know what is the best exhaust 4" or 5" ? Should i spend alot for gauges or do they all work and last the same it just dependes on ther look? intake will be 6637. Don't have the money for DP yet.
The main differences between the 4 & 5" exhaust is the sound, and I think the 4" is a little easier to install. Some say there is a little loss in bottom end with the larger exhaust, but that hasn't been proven. I like my 4" -- sound and all.
The gauges are mostly the same. Most here like the ISS Pro or DiPricols. I like the DiPricols because they match the OEM cluster perfectly and are backlit with LEDs.
You should get gauges first. I have ISSOPRO from DIESEL MANOR. And my exhaust is 4" SS MBPR also from DIESEL MANOR. I would stick with a good set of gauges like these. Need to know what your truck is doing at all times.
DP-TUNER is bad a@@. Get the chip and valve body last.
I guess your decision between 4" & 5" depends on what you're looking for. I have the MKO 5" with muffler and its pretty loud with a pronounced turbo whistle. Doesn't intrude on the cabin with the windows up which is nice. I can tell I lost a little low end grunt, but it makes up for it in the mid range and top end.
My $.02
I went with the MBPR 4" SS-409 with muffler, and glad I put the muffler on. I could always order the muffler delete if I wanted it. The muffler comes with the kit and a 5' SS tip. Easy install.
