Blown Motor Pics

All I got up in my Gallery is the blown motor pics. Long story but more pics going up tomorrow now that I figured out how to do it.

I was hoping to use the block but after what I wound inside I was a little sad. Traced the blown motor to a 69 Ford Torino GT 351 2v windsor, 250hp stock. oh well have a block I can get for cheap from a friend.

Enjoy, I know you all like pics so what are you waiting for, go already!

The last Flatmotor I tore down was about three revolutions from something like that.
Something was a little off when I couldn't get any oil to drain, yet there was oil on the dipstick. When I dropped the pan there was a perfect impression of the oil pickup in the sludge in the bottom of the pan(Thats the whole pickup dohickie, not just the screen.).
I could move all the rods on the crank journals in all four directions. About half of the rings fell apart when tension was released from them. The front half of the block in the crank area was turning white from the heat.
I haven't found a defect in the block yet.

Yeah, I'll take some pics of the bottom of the cylinder too, about a 1" by 1/2" chip out of the bottom. Flippen crazy stuff. I think I'm still going with a 351w, I sold my 302 to a friend about 4 years ago now he's returning the favor with a 351w that rolls over great for only $100 includes my old T5 tranny too that I gave him. So machine shop here I come, mise well build the motor while I what for the weather to clear up then I can blast my frame. By the way what till I show you guys some pics of the hack job on the frame by the PO, OMG he's lucky the motor blew before the frame twisted no support at all!!!!

It's stuffing that the chipmuck or rat tore out of the seat ,then went through the fire wall, through the hole in the exhaust, into the exhaust manifold, through the head, into his new home away from home. When I pulled that out there was acorn shells all over in there, even some in the oil pan(how ithey got there is beyond me, it had to be a really tight fit). I'm still amazed how he got in there and made a home.

That's impressive, the critters in my truck have only managed to get into the seats, at least not that I've noticed yet. (Maybe the wasps have it all sealed up)

Man, if you had known it was blown like that, before tear-down, you could have left it for the chipmunk...at least SOME one would have gotten use out of it!!

Sorry for your loss, really...just struck me as funny...

No I find it petty funny too. If it was a soar subject I wouldn't have put it up. Besides it makes for a good story when it's finished.

I hate it when that happens! I had a 1959 MGA Coupe that was my pride and joy years ago. One early spring day my wife jump in the coupe and head to town. Three quarters up the only hill cruising at 50 or so BANG!!! I immediately hit the clutch as we coast to a non powered stop. My wife looks at me and says "Hon I think we need those pieces skidding along the road behind us." Crankshaft broke behind 2nd main and part went thru pan and parts went out side of block. Broke my heart!
