I am soooooooo confused, I've read about relay kits, wire sizes, etc. But how does the average guy who just wants to see better at night while driving through deer infested countryside get better lighting, without overloading the rating of the wiring that came stock in the truck? Can I buy a wiring harness to replace stock and then use silverstar bulbs in headlights and fogs?
Your 2005 lights are pretty good and the wiring is fine as is.
You need to add driving lights, for better vision down the road. Or for more light closer in, (as in low speed driving,) you might prefer fog lights. In either case, it requires new wiring, a relay and a switch. Those things are usually supplied with the light assembly.
Older vehicles will benefit from headlight upgrades, but in your case, just add lights.
