Need some suggestions from some of you audio gurus. I got a new to me 1990 F250 a few weeks back and would like to get some type of audio installed.
This truck came with an AM Radio in it and power nothing. It's as stripped of a truck as they come. No carpet anywhere. I would like to put a basic cd player in it for some tunes.
I can handle all the install but I would like some suggestions on where to put my speakers and what size I should put in. I'm not a big "Thump and Bump" guy but once in a while I like to have a little hit to my sound.
I would like them to be as clean as possible. (don't we all) I don't mind cutting holes if needed but it needs to look clean and if I can get good sound without it, my feelings wouldn't be hurt.
Where would be a good place to put 6x9s? There are some loover looking vents at the bottom rear of the door. Anyone know whats behind them? Would a 6x9 fit there? My truck is a standard cab and I need the room behind the seat.
What do ya think folks? let ur rip. Pictures would be great!
It came with an AM radio; so does that mean it only has one speaker, under the dash, or does it have door speakers?
If it has door speakers they should be directly under the corner window with a rectangular (sort of) shaped screen over them. Anyway, that's where the factory 6.5's should be. I put Infinity 6012i speakers in mine, great deals can be had on these speakers on Ebay and they are excellent speakers for the price. I've always run them with a sub, so I don't know how they perform with bass. Speakers come with grilles, so if you need to cut, you can mount the grille over the hole.
I just picked up a couple pair of Elemental Designs 6000s 6.5" components. Im pretty impressed with them so far. For the money ($135/pr or cheaper if you buy an eD amp as well). They also let you mount the tweeter in the woofer so if you don't want to mount them seperate you can use them as a 2 way.
I do have door speakers so 6.5s it is. If it turns out I would like a little more bass, do I need to run an amp with a sub? I know I said I need the space behind the seat but I could probably spare enough room for a sub.
