I am looking to put an audio system in my '78. I have two 6x9's that I would like to install instead of door speakers. They are 3 way, and I was wondering if I put them behind the seat up against the corners of the cab in a little plywood frame/box thing, do you think that would be a good idea?
I'm wondering if it will sound muffled at all, with the sound having to go through the seat. Also, would having the speakers oriented towards the front or each other make a difference?
go to Parts Express.com. Get a set of Dayton 6.5s & a pair of Dayton tweeters & a pair of crossovers. Take your door panels off & see if you have a speaker cutout. If not make one at the bottom front of your door to fit the 6.5s. you will like these much better than the 6x9s you have. I think my 74 had 6x8 cutouts. I'll get the part numbers for you. For about $45 a side you can have a great sounding set of American made speakers
