I have two trucks. About 8 months ago one of my drivers took a another job and I just parked the truck. Two weeks later he was back wanting his job back. I just told him nah, I've made more money with it parked. Only reason I still run the other is cause the driver has been with me for 12 years and I don't wanna put him out in the cold. However, my unemployment cost just went up again. When i started out I paid 3.5%. The first of January it went to 10.9%. I hope he has a jacket, he's gonna need it before long.
Along with the increase in everything else freight related, they come along with the new CSA2010 regulations for companies and drivers.
As if it already isn't tough enough to get by. The problem started with deregulation and they keep coming up with "solutions" for a problem they, themselves started. (they is our wonderful government) but I'm not supposed to post that!
Get enough points against a company and they will put the company "out of service". Nice! There's not even a mention of the biggest problem drivers have and need taken care of, which is an uneducated, crappy driving public when it comes to interacting with a big truck on ANY road!
diesel is overpriced , even in mexico its pushing 3 bucks, but sold by the liter in pesos. and still at least 500 ppm diesel not ulsd. i think in louisana had the cheapest diesel or texas. lots of cars run propane there. cheaper than mexican gas.
Hola Amigo, I am not sure of the calculator you use, but diesel in my part of MX works out to $2.41 a gallon.
BTW, I just love computers. 6 years ago I kept track of every tax and business fees I paid, federal, state, sales tax, telephone tax, cigarette tax, etc. At the end of the year I saw that I was paying about 50% of my gross income in taxes and fees. I wasn't working for myself anymore but was working to support all those government workers. That is when I decided to sell everything and leave.
Small businesses can not survive anymore, everyone is going to be working for wages.
