I was trying to look for the old post with the squeeking from the front hubs. But any who. When I lock my hubs in. It doesn't have to be in 4/wd. It starts to make this squeeking noise. Could this be a u-joint or what could it be. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
I had a post regarding that about a month ago. It's pretty annoying to say the least. My truck squeeks when I engage the 4wd (esof) or manually lock the hubs with or without 4wd. It squeeks for a mile or two then quiets down. One member suggested spraying a lube on the dust seals where the axle shaft enters the hub. I sprayed some silicone spray with negative results. Chalk it up to a poor design by Ford. Oh FWIW my truck is an '08 with less than 6,000 miles.

Jack up te truck and turn the wheel by hand. If no squeal then lock in the hub and turn wheel again. You should be able to tell where the squeak is coming from.
Mine did the same thing, for the first time, 2 weeks ago leaving the hunting camp. Had used 4x4 a bit over the weekend. I got out and cycled the hubs from auto to lock and back to auto and it stopped the squeaking. I haven't been able to make it do it again.
If you have the ESOF the first thing I would check is the bearing inside the hub itself, they tend to get dried out after a while. Mine made tons of noise in 2wd, but when you lock them in that bearing is no longer spinning thus not makking a racket.
Here's a link how to rebuild your hubs, the first time I did it only took me 30 minutes. Only specialty tool is a set of snap ring pliers and if you don't got them you can rent them from autozone.
Had the same issue with the new truck. Dealer said the seals were dry and lubed. Issue gone. The truck was sitting for nine months at the dealer before I bought.

You know what, regardless of what the issue is it can be resolved very simply.
WARN manual lockouts. Cap the ESOF vacuum lines and *poof* hub problems be gone forever!
I don't think has anything to do with the hublocks. Like 99f350sd said, it's the seals rubbing. Mine does it sometimes, but not always. Don't know why, but it's still working fine and has caused no problems.
