I sprung a leak on the small pre-formed 3/4" hose that links the tubing to the water pump located below the thermostat housing on my 1999 Explorer 5.0. Is there a site that has an exploded view on the coolant system? I'm trying to find the correct part number so I don't waste time driving to different dealerships.
I picked up new hoses from autozone about two weeks ago. They can look up the part # by make, model and year and sell you the right one. Mine were about $16 apiece, the radiator hoses were about ten each. A few days later, I noticed 5/8" I.D. heater hose at Lowes for about a buck a foot. It isn't pre-molded, but it would have worked for me and been about $20 cheaper. The heater hose connection at the water pump was a real PITA to get off.
Since I was on vacation and pressed to get back home, I had to bend over and pay $13.00 for that bypass hose. I had a pin hole in it. It transitions from 3/4 to 1/2 inch and pre-formed to fit properly. I plan to buy the upper and lower radiator hoses online unless the Ford dealership or Napa/Kragen/Autozone has a better deal. Wonder how that pinhole got there, it was in the inside the curve. Wife was pissed, she just had the coolant and tranny flushed, do they disconnect this hose to flush the coolant?
