Hello everyone. i am tinkering with my truck again.
i have a 01 f250 v10 4x4
My stock hubs squeak non stop when they are engaged.
I want to get a set of warns.
im goin down to napa tomorrow, anyone have a detailed link, or instructions of how to install these things? i have searched but just keep coming up with people raving about how great warn hubs are!
Do i need any special tools, do i need to grease the new ones before installing?
Here is a link for another brand of hubs...but you should have instructions for the new ones when you buy them...so use the link for removal of the auto hubs. http://www.marinepartsunlimited.com/...Conversion.doc

I don't know if you have time to wait, but Amazon.com has the warns for our trucks for $151 a pair. You don't need any special tools to install them, in fact, I did it with no tools. It's as easy as:
1. Pop off hubcap if your truck is equipped. DO NOT REMOVE WHEEL. that is a waste of time.
2. There is a silver-ish ring with 2 tabs sicking out. Pinch the tabs towards each other while pulling out. This should remove your retaining ring. IF THIS HAS NOT BEEN OFF IN A WHILE, USE CHANNEL LOCKS OR PLIERS TO PINCH THE TABS.
3. FIRMLY grasp the lockout portion of the hub, wiggle up and down while pulling away from the vehicle. IF THESE HAVENT BEEN OFF THE TRUCK IN THE WHILE IT MAY BE A PITA TO REMOVE THEM. HIT WITH DEADBLOW OR RUBBER MALLET and maybe spray some PB Blaster in there. Patience will prevail.
4. You now are POS-Hub free. You can either rebuild these stock hubs incredibly easy (flat head screwdriver and snap ring pliers required) OR forcefully insert them into the dumpster. Or the windshield of your neighbor's Toyota... but that may cause legal problems.
5. Install proper functioning hub in reverse order of previous steps. Only thing to be careful of, is that the hub is completly seated in it's happy home. If your truck has ESOF, either cap the vacuum lines leading to the hubs (if you install the warns) or make sure to condition all factory stock hub seals. Replacement may be necessary.
6. Drink a 12 pack of your favorite beer while admiring your work. Be sure to tell your wife and non-ford owner friends you spent drinking beer was actually working on your truck. These people are already under the impression Fords are hard to work on, let them remain ignerant while you now have an excuse to get drunk and enjoy yourself free of distractions.
Here is a link if you want to rebuild your stock hubs before spending the money on a set of warns. This is actually really easy, takes about 20 minutes per hub if you haven't done it before.
THis here is an excuse to get a 24 pack... remember, if the Chevy world asks this is the most challenging job in the world
the install info is in the box with the warn hubs.
it took me longer to get the driver side pos stock hub out than it took to install both of the new hubs.
so i got the driver side in with a little trouble getting stock one off but i cant get the passenger side to budge at all any advice on how to get it off i used this thread to look up how to do it so ive followed the instructions on this site my truck is an 04 f-250 sd fx4
The only thing I would add to the instructions is to clean out everything before installing the new hubs and don't forget to lubricate the new hubs lightly. Key word there is lightly, use grease sparingly, just a little, lust a little dab'l do ya, a wee bit, not too much even.
thanks guys i ended up locking on two vice grips and had a buddy pull one as i pulled the other worked pretty good but in the end we drank a case and enjoyed the tv in the garage for a few hrs beforw returning to our wifes to tell them it was damn near impossible
