I'm making some apearance mods to my 06 Lariat and want to change the OEM honeycomb grille. (My mods are basically moving toward the "Chrome Edition" that was offered in '06 as the truck - just bought it used - already had the 'chrome package' on it.) I've looked at websites till I'm blue in the face / grille ;-)
Roush Racing offered the OEM grille for the Chrome Edition and it's still available thru their website. But does anyone have advice for others I might consider. Billet aluminum or Stainless? Chomed ABS? Insert or bolt on or clamp over? (I am NOT mechanically inclined -i.e. really don't want to have to cut stuff.)
Why do I see some combo billet grilles (main and bumper insert) seling for as low as $68 and others run into the $200+ just for the main grille? What's the catch?
I use Stull and Carriage works predominately at work. Both are great and stull has a selection of "packages" that include a new shell in chrome or paintable and the billet that goes with it. The package grilles look the cleanest since they design both and aren't just working around OEM parts.
RDX, Roush, T-Rex, Putco, Precision grille are all decent alternatives.
Wow. that's a great Hella grille. Love the lights. Unfortunately I've already gone forward with the Roush grille and went Chrome. Regrettably they don't make the lower grille insert. I'd sure like to find one that at least closely matches it. Most of the billet grilles of the same type I've seen have thinner cross bars. Maybe I'll just put some lights down there?
