I have a 2000 ex lmt and I need another 6 disc cart. ford told me it would cost 120.00 just for the cartridge can some one tell me where I could get it cheaper and the part number on your cartridge.
I would think that you could get a whole new radio on Ebay for less money.. I'm gonna have to do that also as mine doesn't want to give the CD's back a lot of the time..
Also does anyone know if they are supposed to be extremely hot when they come out..
Are you sure that no coins has dropped in there? You can check a local ford radio repair shop and see how much they will sell of if they will give yah one, or check in there dumpster, they are usually not that dirty. GL!
I've got a dumb question on the same topic... hope you don't mind me adding it to your thread.
I got my 2000 X used and it has the disk changer in the center console (no cartrige, I'll have to get one on ebay)... My question is: What button on the radio access the cd's in the changer? The 'cd' button plays the cd in the head unit but I don't see another button like an 'aux' to play disks in a changer?

Thanks!
When you press the cd button twice it goes in the changer mode but it must have something to play/access so since there is no cd in there it wouldn't enter changer mode.
sorry for the delay.my laptop crshed and lost every email i had saved..including the one with yer shipping address. if you can re-send it i'll get it out to ya.
I paid $200 for the Dual XHD6425. It's a great radio, plays mp3's from a USB stick, has a front panel (and a rear) AUX in and a remote. You can even make your steering wheel controls work if you get the PIE adapter.
Now... it only has a single CD in it... but you add a cubby to your dash and a single CD with mp3s can hold more than 6 CDs of regular audio
Oh... and it supports HD radio --- which is free digital radio.
