Talking Confused again!

My 02 f150 4.2 manual says to use mercon v in the tranny and says to use mercon in the P/S pump. It states they are not interchangable. When I had my tranny fluid changed at the dealer they sold me tranny fluid which was rated for both. Can I put the mercon v in the P/S pump?

Thanks in advance

MRCON is the old spec. MERCON V is a much better synthetic blend oil. THE old spec will go away and all older trucks will "upgrade" to MERCON V, but dont put straight MERCON in a new truck--- yes you can mix, and yes you can put V in the steering.--- but dont put MERCON in the transmission of the newer trucks.
